Eat Dessert FIRST is pretty much a motto I have lived by since forever.
I could live a lifetime without meat. Okay, except for the Jersey Mikes Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich, that I drive 45 minutes there and back for. There is not one in my city, so I must journey for it. Side note of a story, about 5 years ago we were on vacation and had the option to eat Jersey Mikes...you know vacation food that you can’t get at home. And we walked in and I didn’t like the way it smelled, I think I don’t like the aroma of deli meats in large quantities. And then, 2 years ago were on vacation and I was starving and the closet thing was Jersey Mikes and I was...okay what ever I will stay in the car and get me the Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich. OMG, it changed my life, it was so delicious. Okay, it didn’t change my life, I was very impressed and felt the need to eat each bite in awe and stare at my sandwich from all angles in disbelief of how tasty. Of course, I was starving, but I got one the next day too, it has yet to disappoint. The years I wasted by not eating it! Every time we go to Los Angeles, we stop in Santa Clarita to get one. We used to just stop at the grapevine and drive through to Los Angeles, now it’s the grapevine and Santa Clarita, proceed to destination.๐
I do enjoy fruits and veggies. Cheese and desserts are staples in my life. I will say, they are not that friendly to me however. My body doesn’t take to most desserts anymore and even cheese has begun complications in my system.
The mind does boggle with all the different ways you can combine sugar, cinnamon and flour! Do you not understand all the things those 3 simple ingredients can do, have you not wondered about this as much as me? Here is a little secret, for about 7 years I was working on my recipe to join the Pillsbury Cook Off. I was serious, it was happening… and then I started becoming more health conscious and changed my mind. It was obviously going to contain sugar, cinnamon and flour, perhaps that is why I’ve spent quite a large amount of time in wonderment over those 3 magical ingredients and their synergy.๐
But let’s skip ahead to the party!
Speaking of parties, for my 40th birthday my theme was EAT DESSERT FIRST.๐ We traveled 350 miles to Mission Viejo California because they had my childhood ice cream birthday spot there. Farrell’s Ice Cream Parlor. I was so excited! I had the employees sing the birthday song, I wore the birthday hat and all. A hot fudge Sundae was first and then a Cobb Salad. I love a Cobb Salad๐ I didn’t eat it all because that’s an odd mixture. It was all yumm though. I can’t even tell you what my kids ordered, because I was so wrapped up in my own happiness. Which is honestly refreshing, because it is ALWAYS about them.
We did other things for my 40th birthday that we will discuss in another post. Didn’t want you thinking, I drove 350 miles just for ice cream. I did however once drive 205 miles extra which is about 4 hours from Pismo Beach California to La Habra California… since I was “so close” to go to Krispy Kreme donuts in 2000. It was a whole phenomenon back in 2000 about Krispy Kreme and I lived in San Jose at the time, there were no Krispy Kreme’s anywhere and La Habra had one, and we were going to Pismo… so might as well drive past Pismo and go to Labra and then go back...right! Makes sense to me. It was worth it and I would do it again๐ sometime you have to simply do what makes you happy๐
I really feel one should responsibly do what makes you happy as often as you can. I have lived my life like this and have tried to express to my children the importance of this theory. It is a delicate balance, perhaps another way to say it is
Work Hard, Play Harder✨๐✨
Saturday, February 6, 2021 is National EAT ICE CREAM FOR BREAKFAST DAY! I am all over it, is happening in my household. If ice cream isn’t your thing, I advise you to substitute it for something else that makes you happy. LIVE IT UP!๐
If dessert is not for you and you really enjoy dinner, a nice bloody Prime Rib or what have you. DO IT๐ DINNER FOR BREAKFAST IT IS! While that sounds not appetizing to me...it’s not about me, IT IS ABOUT YOU!

Do not wait until next year to have ice cream for breakfast or your favorite dessert for breakfast. Do it once a month, once every 3 or 4 months.
